1. How to protect my home on vacation.    

  • Stop mail and news paper delivery that will accumulate in front of your house.
  • Ask your neighbor to drop-in regularly at different time of the day.
  • Fix a few timers to switch On and Off your TV, Radio Lights a few times each day. These should operate to your daily schedule timings.
  • Double lock your entry and exit door and  set an Alarm .
  • Park  car in the Garage not in the drive way, let it not remain in the same place for days.

2. Is my Door safe?

  • No, not if they are the plywood hollow  type.
  • The entry and exit doors of a building must be of solid core or metal clad.
  • Metal door preferable if, the building is in a secluded area.
  • Solid doors with four hinges of 6” length and fixed with a security interlocking stud.
  • Frames must be solid 4inches or thicker and minimum 3 inches thick.
  • Frames must be anchored well into the wall and especially the bottom end into the floor.
  • Prefer a “pre-hung” metal frame finished to match your wooden shutter.

3. How to make my windows safe and sound.    

  • Always have a metal security layer over the glass for protection. They do not enhance the looks or add to your viewing experience, but add to you peace of mind.
  • There are any number of gadgets, locks and peripheral security item in the market. The most important  component is your commonsense , while making a decision. Think like a thief “How will I break into that house” Now work against that knowledge.
  • Always remember security of your property is not a one time fix and forget option, it’s a regular on-going up gradation project. To day’s thief is a Tech savvy expert –  targeting high end homes.
  • Always work with an expert on a regular basis.
